Traditional Romance Outline Worksheet

Before I became an Author, I was a reader. I grew up reading greats like Donna Hill, Francis Ray, Beverly Jenkins, and Brenda Jackson. Even though their books were different, they all had common themes/tropes/flows… just with their own unique twists.

For example, arranged marriages have been done millions of times. Being afraid of love has been done millions of times. No matter the plot, these ladies delivered a similar flow - their characters meet, experience conflict and sensual passion, have reasons they shouldn’t be together and override them, give us a heart attack with a black moment or break up, yet end things with a happily ever after.

That flow stems from guidelines recommended for publishing under traditional publishers, and this worksheet guides you through that flow in a way that will allow you to write a novel that is completely unique while still having the flow of traditional romance. For example, there’s a section for showing the characters normal lives, goals, conflicts, time spent together, reasons to split, and etc.
